How to prepare for storm Éowyn

The National Emergency Co-ordination Group (NECG) will issue regular updates to the public on gov.ie during Storm Éowyn.

Schools and childcare

All primary and post-primary schools, colleges and childcare settings will close on Friday 24 January and will stay closed for the day.

Employment

Employers have been asked to facilitate working from home for employees who can do so during the red weather warning. Check your employment rights during severe weather.

Transport

The Road Safety Authority urges you not to travel on Friday during the red weather warning and to avoid unnecessary travel when it passes. Check the RSA website for updates.

Public transport including bus, DART, LUAS and train services will not operate during the red weather warning. There could be public transport delays or disruptions after the storm passes, check Transport for Ireland website for updates.

Power and water outages

Electricity and water supply can be affected during a storm. If you get a power cut or electricity outage or there are issues with your water supply check who to contact.

Emergency services

Emergency services continue to operate during severe weather conditions. You should keep your phone charged and take it with you on all journeys. In an emergency dial 999 or 112.
